Description
This is a beautiful antique, art nouveau, sterling silver brooch featuring a fresco-style hand-hammered scene depicting what we believe is Cupid followed by 2 cherubs. The sides of the brooch are adorned with vines, rails, and gargoyles. This piece is clearly handmade by a skilled silversmith who’s signature has been lost to time. The brooch is reminiscent of Peruzzi’s style of craftsmanship, however, without a clear hallmark, we are unable to discern whether it is a work of his. We believe this brooch was crafted in the late 19th century up until the early 20th century.
It’s about 2.5 x 2.5 inches and is surprisingly heavy.
